1:1 Jemima Jasmine
Founder of Jemima Jasmine Rugs
What inspired you to start Jemima Jasmine Rugs?
I noticed a real gap in the rug market and felt there was space for something more expressive and art-driven. I’ve always been fascinated by how art can transcend traditional forms and become part of the home.
Creating rugs felt like a natural way to bring my artwork into people’s spaces, transforming something functional into something deeply personal and beautiful.
How would you describe your signature aesthetic?
Bold and unique—with vibrant colour combinations, striking lines, and playful yet sophisticated patterns. I like to create pieces that feel joyful, unexpected, and full of personality.
Do you have a favourite project that you have worked on to date?
The rugs I created for The Hari Hotel in London are definitely a standout. It was such a special opportunity to design for a space that’s both stylish and intimate.
What is your favourite thing about London?
It’s home. There’s so much creative energy here—it’s constantly inspiring.
What do you love the most about your work?
Bringing my drawings to life and seeing them become part of someone’s home is incredibly rewarding. There’s something magical about turning a sketch into a tactile, lasting piece that people live with every day.
Are there any particular places that you’re really drawn to or excited by?
Japan, without question. I haven’t been there yet, but I’m endlessly inspired by their philosophy, design sensibility, and way of life. It’s very high on my list.
Any upcoming projects you’d like to share?
Nothing I can reveal just yet, but 2027 is shaping up to be an exciting year — definitely keep your eye out!
